Flamingo
From Flamingo in Costa Rica on Sep 13 '04
Duncan- Here we are at the beach town of Flamingo. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and hit the beach to cool off as soon as we unpacked because of the heat and humidity. The water hardly provided relief, however, as the temperature was somewhere between 75 and 80 degrees. The sun was out, the sand was perfect, and the waves were crashing as we tried to focus on homework we had been assigned on Friday.\r
\r Class has slackened off for Tayrn and me somewhat. We play a lot of games it is not nearly so intense. I'm happy, because it's just plain easier, but Taryn is trying to get Spanish 1 credit and hence is somewhat annoyed. We only have one more day of Spanish classes and then we're totally finished.\r
\r Our host family is wonderful, and we have fresh fruit for almost every meal. We are split up the same way as in Monteverde, with the exception that instead of being in a separate room, my parents are in a separate building. This was almost very bad on Tuesday night, when Alec went to bed and I stayed in their room finishing homework. When I tried to get back into the house, the door was locked. Luckily, Alec wandered out, unable to sleep from the heat, otherwise I would have been displaced for the night.\r
\r Everything else is going well and the change of pace is very nice. Below is a picture of the beach... a good thing to note is that in probably over a kilometer of beach, there was only one other small group of people there, who were at the far end, almost out of sight
