ilha do mel - translated to island of honey. to tell the truth i don´t know why it is called that way, havn´t tried to find out.... after a 2 hours bus drive and an 20 minutes fairy ride we arrived in the island. we found a very nice pousada (brazilian cabans, or hospedaje...) and went to eat lunch. there we met roy and his girlfriend again - they took the train and told us how it really is. that all too tols about train ride, where the landscape is spousably amaizing, is really a long 6 hours bumpy ride that has 2 minutes of nice landscape, all in all a long, and that really good of a ride. feeling pleased that we took the bus, which was only 2 hours, we kept on eating, or really just started eating (it takes the food in brazil ages to get to you) we met the lovely inbal. we met her before (from me she was of the group that saved us on the border in futalefu with a taxi, meytal met her in the israeli farm in lago poulo) but never really get to know her. well as it happens she has split up from her friends and now is traveling alone, she is allready 10 days on the island all happy and tanned!!!! with a moment hestation we aduptad her!!! she is such a lively, funny person, you can never get bored around her, we both just fell in love with her!!!

after being such a longh time on the island she automaticly became our tour guide to the island. the first night we went for dinner (pizza) and drinks (beer) in one of the few places open in the island. as it goes the island is open only on weekends, thru the week it self it´s empty so people don´t bother opening there shops... anyhow, there we met 2 local guys that took us to see a local band play somewhere alse - a nice way to pass the evening.... by the way, since it is an island - there are no roads or cars in the island, only small sandy trails thru the trees that are the island forest, or really the island itself. at night there are no lights to light the way so you must walk with flashlights, or alse walk in the dark hoping not to fall over a tree....

the morning after we were awakend by inbal (what later on became a morning ritual...) seing it´s a cloudy cold day we dressed warm and went to a tour of the island, wlaking from our pousada to the beach called paria grande, translated to the big beach. going towards it you walk thru the islands forest and a moment before seing the beach you have to most amaizing sight in a dark cloudy day - two huge cliffs right infront of you coverd all around by grey black clouds, till now i regret not having my camera on me. it reminded so much of the movie jane air - it that was the feeling i got from it - of an old scary and mestorious manor... and from there you get to the beach itself which has such a power to it during that kind of weather, you can feel how much nature is stronger then you, the waves are so loud you can´t talk with out shouting and so high that you have to strain you neck to see the top of them.... it is thriling and scarry at the same time - all in all just amizing!!!!!! after the beach you walk back into the forest trails of the island crossing back to the brzilia port (where the fairy drops you on the island) and from there it´s 5 minutes to our pousada - taking a nice afternoon nap.... later it´s dinner and drinking beer while listening to a bob marly concert in one of the open places on the island....

the rest of the days wern´t any thing interesting - we woke up each morning hoping for the sun to apper, being reminded that this is my luck - being in brazil on an island and having just rain!!!! so days went by in the same way - the island was charming it was so hard for me to give up and realize that the sun wont come to me there - it is time to move on..... after 4 nights we left....
