Beach Weekend
From Mexican Siesta in Mazatlan, Mexico on Feb 28 '05
We went down to Mazatlan the first weekend I arrived. It's a more tourist town on the Pacific coast. It is smaller then Cancun and with a lot more charm. We stayed in the historic area which I absolutely loved. We were steps from the plaza and it was nice to walk down the small cobblestone streets. The hotel was nice, and a great value. The courtyard in the middle is actually pretty nice. I had a very small room without a window so it was pretty dark and the bathroom was small, but it was clean enough. The hotel was across the street from the water, but with a really nice view and walkway by the coast. The Golden Zone was too commercial for me, but with a cool beach. It was a lot of fun and I would love to go back. It was the perfect mix of a relaxing beach vacation without too much commercial tourism.
