After visiting the Alhambra we headed up into the mountains. We stayed in a remote hotel in a beautiful location several kms up a gravel road past the town. The hotel was in the next valley over from Sierra Nevada National Park. The owner was a lovely Spanish woman who was very patient with our complete lack of Spanish. The whole trip we struggled with restaurants not opening until 8pm. That night we drove all the way back into Grenada looking for one that was open and by the time we got back to the village they'd just opened. It was almost worth the long wait for the great dinner we finally got and Rose loved all the giant vegetables in the restaurant.

The next day we set out looking for a walk to do. We had a fairly average map in English with more description on how to get to the walks than about the actual walk. The walk we ended up picking was just perfect. It was along a ridge with a great outlook to the Sierra Nevada Mountains the whole way along. About half of the walk was through shallow snow, which made it a bit slower than it might have been. It was great to be up proper mountains again and be at twice the height of Irelands highest mountain. We managed to avoid being chased by a heard of bulls who were very interested in us and didn't take their eyes off us as we walked past.
