What can I say about Chefchaouen? Simply incredible. Is it because I'm coming from an extremely poor region of the world? Well it certainly has something to do with the fairy tale feeling I'm having right now, but i heard from many people that it is one of Morocco's jewels.

All the houses are of some shade of blue, which is a very soothing sight. When I walk through the little streets of this medieval town, I feel in a totally different world. The food is incredible, and we certainly aren't saving money on that. We eat lots. Hariras, tagines, pastries, mint tea, coffee, freshly pressed juices... wow! Cheap, too! And the service! The waiters and restaurant-owners go out of their way to please us, they are nice to us, understand us, and actually bring what we ordered. We feel really nice.

The only thing is that it's really cold, especially with the wind. My guess would be around 15. Coming from a perpetual 40-some degrees, this is extremely cold. We totally forgot to bring our warm clothes, because that concept had disappeared from our minds during the last 6 months... :) so we freeze.

Yesterday I went alone on a trek in the Rif mountains, which surround Chaouen. I took unbeaten paths because that's way funner than large predetermined paths, and I tried to reach the top of one of them. I didn't reach the summit, but walked among many sheep (that hop from one rocks to another with such ease!), talked to a few sheep herders, and just spent lots of time ejoying the energy coming from the mountains. I always feel great alone in nature...

Today we are going to Fes, another great medieval town, but a lot bigger than Chefchaouen. It is part of the Gastronomic Route through Morocco that we have just started. Can't wait...

WOW! Ok, prochain voyage, you pack me into your suitcase! Je pense à vous! Gros bisoux!

:) malgosia.
