Serious Beach Party Scene- Punta del Este

We somehow managed to take almost no pictures of Punta del Este. This sculpture was impressive enough to draw out the camera though! Looks like sand but made of cement. I looked all over for the other hand or maybe a foot but the fingertips are all there was!

Punta Del Este seems to be like the South Beach of this part of South America.  (Actually it is cleaner!)  It is built on a peninsula that sticks out into the Atlantic and is surrounded by beaches.  Inside of a road that runs around the outside are condo towers, hotels, restaurants, all-night bar scene, etc.  Apparently this is also the area where all of the millionaires and billionaires of S. America are compelled to own property and show off their yachts.  Not really my style as a beach bum but we did some exploring and spent a night out.  (2AM to 4:30AM we were warned not to bother going out earlier.  No one gets there until 2!  My kind of town that way...)
