It was just us and the stars as we drove through Montana past huge, flat praries and the occassional brightly lit power plant to reach Billings, Montanna.
This morning we drove a half hour to see some 200 year old grafetti -- the name and date of the explorer William Clark (of Lewis and Clark) that Mr. Clark carved into a big rock that he nicknamed Pompey’s Pillar (after Sacagawea’s son) as his half of the expedition made their way back east.
After that we visited an antique store in downtown, and Eric’s campaign button prompted a surprise political conversation wih the two very nice older women working there. Both the women were republicans, though it seemed that neither of them were entirely sure why. One woman, however, was sure that the democratic congress was to blame for the high gas prices and that her nephew works for the “air force CIA,” which definitely doesn’t exist. Ah well J
We also took in the New Batman movie before hitting the road. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
