strength and flat=more miles
From Walking & Biking Across America in Axtel, United States on Jul 07 '07
The city park in Hodgenville was listed as a good place to camp in the guide but in the morning the gate was locked behind me and I lost an hour trying to find someone to let me out. Passed through a couple of towns before stopping for church in Eastview. It was a tiny little place and a tiny little congregation, but the preacher preached like he was speaking to a hundred as he told us the story of Job and his unquenchable faith. In conclusion, we turned to hymn 179 and of all the songs in that book that I don't know, it was "I'll Fly Away." The worship leader played the guitar and people stood and sang in strong loud harmonies and I threw my voice into the mix, all 14 of us ready to bring the roof down. After all of these worthy (church) and unworthy (stupid gate) delays, I still made it all 57 miles to the Rough River campground by 3 pm.
