Hwaryeongjeog
In 1801 King Sunju established Hwaryeongjeog to enshrine the portrait of King Jeongjo. It was not unusual for one King to honor the previous deceased king as though he lived.
On the SE side is the outer entrance. The compound consist of two entrances and three buildings, and will take just a few minutes to see.

From Hwaryeongjeon, follow the road right and you’ll find the ticket office for Hwaseong Haenggung.
Hwaseong Haenggung
The Palace was built in 1789. It was expanded between 1794 and 1796. A number visitor stamps exist inside, so take some paper for a unique souvenir.
Hwaseong Harnggung was not only a part time resident for the King, but was the location of the 61st birthday party for his mother. The king’s apartment as well as the Queen Mother’s birthday chamber, are both restored to get a look into 18th century life.

Saturdays between March and November at 2 pm, traditional performances are held on the grounds. Among those are the Jang Yong Yeong Security Guards Ceremony, and the Demonstration of the 24 Martial Arts.
