Our first couchsurfing experience
From And the journey begins in Pula, Croatia on Aug 06 '06
Getting to Pula was a task. We left Trieste on a Sunday and Bindi you will appreciate the fact that NOTHING really runs on Sunday in Europe. So after many hours of confusion we finally found a bus that would take us from Treiste to Croatia. Although Trieste looked like a lovely town, we were itching to get out of there and on to Croatia. The thought of sharing a twin bed again was certainly a motivator for getting us out of town. Anyways we finally made it to Pula, our first stop on our whilwind tour of Croaita. We had an amazing time thanks to our new couchsurfing friend Nikola. He put us up in his brothers room in his families home in this pretty small village on the water. We went to the village party, tried some good Croatian food, got a great tour of the city with our own personal tour guide, snuck into museums and the Russian Ballet. Hung out with some of Nikolas friends. Talked on the beach till two in the morning and then stopped by a bakery to get some fresh baked goods from the baker. The next morning we tried to get up to catch our bus but that didnt work out so well so we spent the morning swimming in the sea (not the ocean) and caught a taxi into town. Next stop Zadar!
