After arriving in Jönköping I was taken to my new home at Råslätt, which is made up of roughly 12 big apartment complexes - 3 of which are dedicated solely for international students. Each room has 3 or 4 smaller rooms which house 3 or 4 students; there is also a decent sized kitchen and bathroom off the main hallway. I'm actually quite impressed with the size of each apartment. I have two roommates - a crazy Australian named Tyson and a quiet Lithuanian named Tomas. Due to Tyson and I's propensity to have a few beers (and thanks to Tomas' general indifference) the room has been nicknamed "the Party Room" which may or may not be a good thing when classes start up. For now though it's been a great way to meet a lot of the international peeps, and a bunch of new friends have been made so things are just peachy right now.

As for the complex itself, the design is perfect for our situation. The three buildings that house students are arranged in a horseshoe pattern and in the middle courtyard is a lounge area (called Sockertoppen) with TV's, tables to play cards, and pool tables. The courtyard also has some nice foliage, as well as picnic benches to chill out and relax on. Five minutes away from the area is a bus station and a grocery store called "Willy's" where we can get some food, especially extremely cheap packets of pasta. The University is a ten minute bus ride into town which is a bit of a pain, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Apparently about 300 of the 400 exchange students live here, so it is definitely the place to be.
