The Golden Circle
From Iceland in Geysir, Iceland on Feb 14 '05
Another, and the last day, out in the Yaris. Today's itinerary included visiting Gullfoss and Geysir. We took what seemed the quicked route through Þingvellir National Park. Passed a dog-sledding tour.. aww huskys. We didn't have the time to go dog-sledding, unfortunately. The road we needed in the National Park was closed so we had to head to Selfoss. Paul was really worried we'd run out of petrol on the way, but he located a petrol station, of sorts, just in time. Phew. Arrived in Geysir first, where we saw, and felt [stood a bit too close], Strokkur gesyer. It erupts quite often but neither of us got a decent photograph of Strokkur because the weather wasn't so great. So, we got back in the car and headed to Gullfoss - Iceland's most famous waterfall. I think we both would have found it far more amazing if the sky was clear and we weren't so frozen/wet. We sat shivering in a little cafe for a while, putting off going back out into the cold and getting back in the Yaris.
