· We took off from our secluded little camp spot early and headed for Kilkenny via Enniscorthy. We took in the amazing green countryside and stopped in at a little town called Gowran. Here we saw ancient church ruins where we found a gravestone (one of the newer one’s) from 1716- we then put it into perspective that that person wouldn’t have even known Australia existed! The church itself I think was built in the 900’s. We arrived then in Kilkenny and headed straight for the tourist info. A nice little town so we a quick bite to eat in a little café and found ourselves chatting to some locals. They pointed us in the direction of the Kilkenny castle and gardens where we had a nice walk around in the warm sun (we have to make the most of it when it does decide to come out). Mid arvo we headed off to Waterford. We browsed around the town by foot again before the search began once again for a good park for the night. Too tired to think about it, we ended up in the residential area, which ended up being good as we walked back into town to a nice pub for our first real Irish Guinness. We both thoroughly enjoyed it- very creamy and totally different to the Aus version. Even after only the one, it aided in a good nights sleep!
