I decided to put last nights activities in here because most actually happened in the early hours of Saturday!

Having rested up for a little while after yesterdays activites, we thought we'd give the locals a run for their money and have a go at the Rúntur. This is basically a pub crawl which really only begins around 11pm and runs into the early hours. From what I can tell, Icelanders tend to do all their partying at the weekend. You won't find too many up for a drinking session during the week, but man, do they live it up at the weekend! It's a great way to get to visit each pub in the city and if you're lucky, you might get to sample some great live music along the way. Being Irish, we decided to start a little earlier than suggested, but am delighted to say, we managed to keep up and see in new day!

I forgot to mention that this weekend happened to corresspond to the world-reknowned 'Gay Pride festival', which apparently attracts 50,000 extra visitors to Iceland each year. We only dicovered this after booking and although I'm not gay, I looked forward to the witnessing all the activities for the weekend.

Having only finished the Rúntur around 5am, we stayed a little longer in our beds on Saturday morning. Luckily we were awake just before the Gay Pride Parade (If we hadn't have been, the nosie would definitely have woken us up!!) The main street was awash with rainbow colours, the crowds were out in support and/or just curious and the gays and lesbians had their party. Talk about being loud... as each float passed by, you were shaken to the core by the sound waves being blasted from the biggest and loudest amps you could imagine. Not the best place to be if you had a headache after the Rúntur :o)

Anyhow, as the days activities died down, we took a walk through the city, now covered with rainbow colours and decided on a early night. No Rúntur being done two days in a row for us!!
