We met our tour bus at Victoria station to take us to the beautiful trio of places outside of London. The tour was, as I'd heard, quite rushed, but what can you expect when fitting so much into one day? It was wonderful to get out of the city and see a bit of English countryside.

In Salisbury, we spent the entirety of our time at the Cathedral, where the Magna Carta is housed. This, of course, impressed Eric far more than it impressed me (he even bought a Magna Carta for our wall), but it really was a beautiful document. We also saw the oldest mechanical clock, which was quite large and without ornamentation.

From Salisbury we went to Stonehenge, where we looked longingly through the fence at those famous big rocks in a circle. And really, what else is there to say about them, except, as our tour guide noted, "It's just a bunch of rocks in a field."

Everyone had said that Bath would be the most impressive, and I'll agree, if only on the basis of sheer beauty. The Roman Baths were interesting, and of course gave me cause to desire a house near a hot spring. We really only had a few moments after our tour of the baths to walk around town, but it truly is the kind of place you'd want to retire to. They also have very good ice cream.
