Today we went driving through one of the prettiest vine-filled regions of Croatia; Plešivica. Just outside of Zagreb (about 25kms) Plešivicas white wines are very well known.

We stopped on our way over the hill down to Jastrebarsko where we topped up with fresh water from a spring dating back centuries. Mum decided to introduce herself to a group of school kids coming home from "morning" school who were thrilled to answer Mums curious questions about the school, school buses, number of classes, number of students, what their families do for income, how much does school cost and more.. it was really lovely to see.

So much to see!

We stopped off in Jastrebarsko (called "Jaska" by the locals) where we had coffee and just talked for a couple of hours before continuing on. There used to be a concentration camp here during the second world war later used by Titos Partisans as a holding camp for political "misfits" which at one time included Vladko Macek a very famous Croatian politician who in 1945 fled to France and then the USA.

We then drove onto Sveta Jana, a spring where now stands a bottled-water company that produces our favourite water; "Jana"! Onto Slavetic for a drive where a Gothic/Baroque castle belonging to the Oršić family still stands dating back to the 16th Century.
