OBAMA!!!!
From Un'Avventura Italiana - An Italian Adventure in Bologna, Italy on Jan 20 '09
YEAY Obama! I watched the inaguration online Monday night, but I missed the ball - it was past my bedtime.. but who's really excited?!! I cannot imagine being one those 2 million people. I like to walk fast and sometimes I get a little bit of rage when I cannot. I may have hurt someone.
Other than that, this week hasn't been the most exciting... just getting all of the things I need like a modem for internet access, a cell, hairdryer, groceries, ect. My curling iron and straightener aren't working (even with my fancy adapter)! ... and I cannot seem to find a place that sells them (every shop sells something in particular, its not like you can pick one up at the grocery store or something) It took me a while to figure out that hairdryers are sold in some of the technology shops ... right next to the radios, cellphones, laptops, and voice recorders... what?!
I'm also not a legal resident, yet. My information packet from the university never made it to my house in the states (I blame the consulate), so I had no idea that there is an intense amount of paperwork you have to fill out when you get here (even if you have a visa) so that you can stay longer than 3 months.
Now that most of my to-do list is done (or paused while I wait for my paperwork to come back approved) I don't have a lot to do. Florence is only an hour away - and being a big leather city, I think I might go there in search of some light brown leather boots. Its getting to be spring collection time around here so there aren't a lot of boots our anymore. :( (ps I found the street with Burb, Louis, Armani, Miu Miu, Fendi, ect yesterday - gorgeous. I don't know how the did it - but is and outdoor AND indoor mall at the same time... A miracle!)
I found a really pretty part of town yesterday in general that had new, cool stuff like that mall and also churches and towers that are 100s and 100s of years old- but my camera died 5 min into my afternoon walk, so more bologna picks soon to come. Oh! speaking of shopping - I went into this vintage store yesterday and tried on this really pretty amethyst, gold, & pearl bracelet... turns out its not just any bracelet - its from the greece in the 1870s when they were doing some new and exciting gold detailing work. Probably the most expensive item I've tried on... ever.
