Bob Marley on Koh Samui
From Southeast Asia 2008 in Ko Samui, Thailand on Aug 24 '08
So Adam and I head to Koh Samui for a bit of diving, kayaking, and snorkeling. The moment you touchdown in this place, walking through an open air airport, all you sense is beauty.
We both stayed in resorts near Chaweng Beach, the most happening and loudest beach on the island. I stayed at a resort called The Amari Palm Reef rife with honeymooners unfortunately, but this was expected for being such a beautiful resort. So we did what we came to do during the days.
At night is when the fun started happening. Adam and I were walking down the beach looking for the best party, but we found this quiet little bar that played reggae all night long. While we were there we met a a bunch of Thai people who sat on the beach, stoned out of their minds, playing guitar on this beautiful beach. Adam and I do what we usually do and start interacting with the locals, trying our best to communicate, and always successfully.
Tangent: Why is it that tourists like to hang out with tourists when they go to foreign countries? Locals aren't scary, its easy to communicate with them, and you can do what you're doing back home.
Anyway, we got to hanging with these people and they offered to take us into town for a bit of partying. These next couple nights were a total fucking blast. Let me tell you, partying with Thai people > partying with tourists! The details I'll just keep to myself. Let me just say, as far as I could tell, they were all women. Cheers.
