Sorry we haven't blogged in a while!
Next stop for us was Bordeaux, famous for its wines. We spent 2 days here, but ended up not actually doing much because of bad weather. It was also a public holiday on one of the days we were here (something to do with World War 2).
All the French people we have encountered so far are really friendly and helpful
We did go on a wine tour though. We visited 2 chateaux (that's what they call vineyards here) about 1 hour away from the city of Bordeaux, which both specialised in red wines. I'm not usually a big fan of red wine, but it was pretty good!

The countryside was also really pretty. One thing I noticed was that roses grow everywhere. Something else we've noticed about France is that people ride their bikes all over town, usually with baguettes in the bike baskets. And all the French people we have encountered so far are really friendly and helpful - nothing like the stereotype we were expecting!
Bordeaux had some amazing patisseries and chocolate shops and I think Richard was getting sick of having to stop at each one so I could look in the windows :) They have a specialty here called 'canelles' which we tried - they are little vanilla cake-type things... different, but good!
