An early morning departure from Ubud; we had a one and half hour minivan ride to the five-hour ferry. We picked up some fried goodies and mangoes for the tour from Padang Bai to Lembar, Lombok. We lucked out when we boarded the vessel with two very friendly Filipino girls who gave us ideas for our next adventure. From the boat, troll lines were set out, and in every imaginable spot. Steph met the captain right as the bonito school set the boat and troll lines into a frenzy. After landing 4 of them, the captain gave us a tour of the helm, cool! Upon arrival in Lembar, we loaded up into another minibus and headed through Mataram to Senggigi for another small, wet boat ride to Gili Trawangan (arriving 10 hours after we set out). Nestling down at Warna Homestay, we transitioned back to our familiar island lifestyle. Made it in time for the freedom celebration of the Full Moon Party, which was intoxicatingly fun for locals and tourists alike! Between snorkeling off the beach chasing schools of squid; diving with turtles, sea snakes, and cuttlefish; playing beach soccer with the Warna boys and the other locals; the home-made gym; we never really found ourselves wondering what to do next. We expected only a few days of island relaxation, but after a week, we thought it time to head back to the city for fresh water showers (we missed those on the island!) and to prepare for our next destination! We can definitely see ourselves returning to the Gili's one day....
