The visit to Delphi was an all day journey, a couple hours on a bus, a little sightseeing and then a few more hours on the bus and then tucked in for the night at my swanky hotel...

These guided tours have turned out to be extremely beneficial.

The drive to Delphi was very nice, except for the extremely loud, obnoxious woman from Seattle, WA, who was also going around the world. If I'm not careful, that's going to be me....AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The guide was very knowledgeable and very interesting as she described the ruins and the meanings behind them. We walked quite a ways up, just to see the Temple and the Treasuries. The Oracle at Delphi is dedicated to the god, Apollo. There are some very well preserved pieces of buildings, statues, etc. Many over 2,000 years old. Some of these tours I could have done on my own, but there really is a lot of information, and I don't always have the patience to read little cards or listen to an audio guide.

You can climb up Mt. Parnassus even higher, to the stadium, where they held sporting events to honor Apollo, and I tried, but we only had 20 minutes, and I don't really speed walk, I kind of meander, stop, pant, wait for the cramps to subside, go a little more, wait for the heart palpitations to go away and so on. And my feet went on strike. So, there you go. It was a great view from where I was, though. Really.
