Day 9 - Last Day
From Michy's Adventure in New Orleans in New Orleans, United States on Jan 16 '08
Finished my last training day today. I had some time this afternoon and really wanted to hop on the famous St. Charles Streetcars to view the old mansions in the Garden District. So for $2.50 return, I did just that! The homes were grand, street lines with huge mossy oaks. Gorgeous. I got off after 30 minutes at Audubon Park and walked around and took a few pics. Then I got back on and headed back.
For lunch I had a muffelata sandwich at Central Grocery, an italian grocery store. The sandwich has olive salad, meat and cheeses. It was quite delish but so big! I could only eat half.
I did some souvenir shopping, while waiting for Pat to finish his Katrina tour.
For supper, Pat and I went to Muriel's. This was our final meal, so it had to be good. For appetizer, we shared fresh, and I mean FRESH! crabcakes. I think the crab was alive this morning! The best I've ever had. Then I had redfish, which is their local fish with salsa and asparagus. All excellent. We skipped dessert, cause we just had to go to Cafe du Monde and get beignets and cafe au lait one more time! I bought a bunch of beignet flour mix to bring home and a can of chicory coffee.
We called it a day and we made our last walk through the French Quarter back to the hotel.
Though I'm happy to be going home tomorrow, I have loved every minute of my time in New Orleans and everything about this city. The people, the food, the jazz, the blues, (hey it rhymes!) the buskers, the art galleries, the antiques, the tours, the crazy people on Bourbon st!... This is an amazing city, with so much culture. I will definitely be back one day and when I do I'm bringing friends and family or anyone who'll come with me! (Frank, you're coming with me next time! lol!)
See you again soon Nola!
