My mother wakes me up at 7:30 am. She thinks that is sleeping in! We go across the street to the World Cup coffee and Tea shop and I get hot chocolate. I guess I need something to beat the rainy blues. We search for breakfast places, and we can't seem to locate any. We ask a shop employee and he recommends a hotel restaurant. We go to the Heathman Hotel for omelets. Both of us eat goat cheese, spinach and mushroom omelets, with rosemary potatoes and good whole grain homemade toast. After consuming our meal, we wander past the Oregon Historical Society, the Pearl District, and find our way to Storables (a store that sells organizational tools and tubs). My mom finds a $1 shower caddy, and I find nothing. haha. Then we head across the street to my favorite athletic wear shop Lululemon, where I buy a $58 cap-sleeve grey striped layer. Then, we explore the furniture shops, bath appliance stores, and the alphabet district. We buy yogurt, bananas, etc. at Whole Foods and discover that the Alphabet district is a fun area...one we will have to explore later. We have gelato (I have chocolate mint and my mom has tiramisu). We go to the mall to avoid the rain, but it offers no excitement, so we leave. It is perfect timing for happy hour, so we head to Oba...an expensive restaurant with great happy hour specials. We try the homemade potato chips with gorgonzola cheese; vegetable platter with jicama, tomatoes, cucumber, potatoes, and a sour cream dip; and pita bread with black bean hummus. She samples the margarita and I try the Peppermint Patty cocktail. Later, we discover it was Saint Cupcake that we had wanted to try, so we split the two cupcakes (an Elvis cupcake of banana, chocolate, and peanut butter, and a then a double chocolate cupcake). It is probably a good thing the food back in Maine isn't this yummy...I would probably eat out a bit too much for my budget.

It isn't that eating is all I did today...it's just that at the end of the day, it is all I really remember.
