0500 "Morning Call"

0600 on the Sunrise Trail Train to Jhusan

0615 as we ride üp the mountain in the train "hey, isn't that the sun rising? what the heck?"

0620 we arrive in Jhusan under wispy fog

0625 not use to the thin air and puffed out we arrive at the viewing area

'geez, i hope this fog clears' we all think

0650 it starts to rain and most people rush under the two small gazebos

0704 sunrise...but not that we could see

0705 we decend to the train station. tired and dissapointed

Saying all that, the view of the valley from the top was amazing. And ''it's not about the destination, it's about the journey"

Our trail walk around Alishan was also rained out. :(

Alishan Travellers Tip:

Take the train ride up to Ali Mountain by TRAIN ($399) and down the mountain by BUS ($214), or MINIBUS ($250).

Our minibus driver stopped at Fengchui (for us to look around for an hour) and some other place (for a suspension bridge picture). It took just as long as the train ride but was much more fun.

The Sunrise Trail Train (same station as the Alishan train destination) is $100 one way and $150 return. If you want to do the walking trail, after the sunrise, get off at Jiaoping station and walk from there back to Alishan Village.
