Hola!

My first week and a half here in Mazatlan has been a roller coaster ride! The first few days were very lonely and took a lot of adjusting. The shower takes forever to heat up and there´s NO water pressure. The busses are confusing, and it takes about 45 minutes to ride one anywhere, although they are very cheap. It only costs about 50cents USD or 5pesos to get anywhere. Also, it´s the coldest winter that Mazatlan has had in 30 years!

After I started making friends and hanging out with the international students, I´ve been having a BLAST! There are only about 35 of us internationals and everyone is really great. There are people from Canada, the US, Finland, Sweeden, Germany, France, and a girl that lives a street over from me is from Japan (although she´s going to a college in Texas, Small world!)

We´ve been hanging out at Joe´s Oyster Bar and on the beach, which is beautiful. The city itself is very very nice, but I was shocked to see that most of the buildings are very old with chipping paint and a lot of graffiti. I haven´t taken many pictures yet, but that´s my plan for this afternoon, so get excited!! Pictures are soon to come!

My classes are going well, and are very easy. I´m taking two classes in English and two in Spanish. My English classes are Intro to Mexican Culture (my favorite!) and Intro to Hotel and Tourism. My Spanish ones are Historia Social y Cultural de Latinoamerica (Social and Cultural History of Latin America) and Español de los Negocios (Business Spanish). That class only has 3 students in it!! It´s like having a private spanish tutor, which is very nice. My largest class has less than 10 people. It´s a very small school, but I like it a lot. All of the teachers already know everyones names and class never starts on time!

Anyway, I´m going to lunch with my friend Shino now, so look for a new restaurant review and pictures!

Adios!
