It's so nic3e to be back at a beach.  I'm in Sihanoukville staying at a guest house right on the beach.  Well, it's kind of a guest house, more like a bar with the attic portioned off into small rooms with a mat on the floor and a fan - only $2 though.  Waking up in the morning you can hear the loud lapping of the ocean.  Unlike the cold pacific this water is nice and warm.  The last couple of days I've been dividing my time between getting sunburnt on reclining beach chairs, swimming, and walking along the beach.  This is my first time in 2 weeks that I'm again traveling solo, the others with less time have already moved onto Siem Riep.

Oh, I also visited this cool local restaurant called the snake house.  The place had over 90 different snakes from all over the restaurant, plus under the glass tables.  It was a little trippy eating with a snake looking up at you.

Last night I visited a nearby bar that offered a free dinner buffet every night at 7p.  I started talking to this girl who has lived here for about a year, and who dates a guy who works at the bar.  "So how much does an apartment cost?" I ask.  Between $30-50 a month, $80 if you want hot water.  I also learned the rent for the big hotel-bar-restaurant we were seated at was just $900 a month, easily the same price as a small studio in LA. crazy.  At the bar a 50 yr old American and 20 something blonde guy from California, who also works there, light up another hash joint.  Two others bring out a block of ice attached to some upright wood that makes a slide for drink shooters.  I can easily see how people end up staying here indefinitely.  But it's time for me to go, I have a bus ticket for 730 tomorrow morning.
