Last coastal stop

Emerald Beach was a nice place to stop the night - paddle on the beach in the sunset etc.

Today onto Coff's Harbour for a bank visit and chores (grocery shopping)...after a visit to 'Big Banana'. Literally a 'big fruit'...we have been to several of the 'Big Things' here...Big Mango, Big Pineapple, Big Apple, Big Prawn, Big Gumboot, Big Captain Cook...so it makes sense to visit the Banana as well. See the bananas growing and then leave after a few photos.

Supposed to be heading down the highway towards Sydney today but at the last moment decide to veer off the highway onto the Waterfalls Way. We head up the mountains with 'Big Sheila' groaning and complaining all the way - gearbox is useless - she won't climb the hill unless she is in 2nd gear and doing about 4000 rpm - sounds like she will blow up...but finally she gets us to the top for a stunnign view of Dorrigo National Park - yet another World Heritage Site - clocking them up now. Drive on to Rainforest Centre in Dorrigo and do a short boardwalk before driving to Dangar Falls for lunch....beautiful spot. By has the fun of driving back down the mountain and we get stuck behind a huge petrol tanker so do about 5km an hour down the hill before he pulls in to let us past. We stop at Newell Falls for a photo thus allowing the darn tanker back past us and then crawl down the hill again until he lets us past for the second time.

We rejoin the highway - 3 hours after leaving it and drive as far as Port Macquaire for the night. A nice spacious site but way too many noisy kids. The pool is constantly full of children so we give it a miss and walk into town for a tasty steak on the sea front with a cold one.
