The day started with MARTIN'S birthday. So they all left to go seal watching leaving us to start the BBQ (Braai) which was ready at 12 but then we found out the BBQ was at 1 AAhh well. The party began and we had to leave. The route began with a chaotic drive throught the suburbs of Cape Town most of which we had seen. After what seemed ages we found the correct route and began our adventure proper. Most of the vineyards were closed but we found one called Lievland and sampled a few reds. Really nice. Route 62 (off the beaten track)took us through the Karoo hills. We saw ostrich, baboons, small deer, extraordinary birds, ?swans, lots of raptors. We ended up in Montagu a charming little place full of colonial style houses. Mimosa lodge was in the middle - very old perfect and quite New Orleans in style. The drinks of Muscatel before samples of local wines throughout an excellent dinner (four courses) Peter of course helped me get through my wines and we returned to our room sufficiently sloshed haveing had a pleasant discourse with the lady of the house and a family of Swedes in the bar with copious additional drinks - surprise no-one was entirely well this morning. The bed room floor creaked hugely whenever you trod on it with the result that everytime we visited the facilities, not only did the other wake but probably the whole place as well.
