Jerusalem, the ancient capital of Israel, is the place I love most in Israel. Thats why i came back many times, the first time was on a trip with our Hebrew ulpan in 2004, in 2005 I got invited to a conference in the hebrew University about the disappearance of priesthood in different religions and stayed with a group of international students for 1 week there, later I did many short or longer trips. Ruight now I am coming back regularly to look in the libraray of the hebrew univerity for material for my master thesis, and each time I enjoy sitting on one of the verandas of the university and looking over the mountains of this unique city. The colors are different in Jerusalem, the air smells like needle trees, as it is about 1000 meters high, the athmosphere on moze shabat is also something unique, because this city is more rekigious than others and u can still feel the spirit of shabat, not only in your house but also around the whole city. heres a few pics during my trips to jerusalem, the first three are part of a photo exhibition in the rabin memorial center in 2005, in which i participated. They were taken with a 50 dollar digicam, and lateron i worked on them with photoshop. Jerusalem is also the home of daniel, a friend of mine and his whole family, some of the pictures were made in the house of his aunt. This is one more thing I love from Jerusalem, u can just walk along the streets for hours, cross the whole city through the different quarters until u reach the old city and it never gets boring, each quarter has a new beauty. In the old city I usually start with going to the kotel, especially in the night it is amazing, a special power, I would say. i also like the shuk, if u cross the different quarters in the old city, the jewish, the Christian and the Arab, u feel like crossing some continents. In the Arab quarter I like the different spices, which are sold in little shops and the fact that u can buy Arab dictionaries for a few dollar. Tzhe jewish quarter has a lot of archeological treasures, there is a goldern menorah, built to be ready to fit in the next temple, it is built by a group that made sure that it was exactly designed and build according to the laws and could really be used in the next temple. There is also remnants of an ancient city, anancient jerusalem located just below the jerusalem of today, u can still see the mosaics of the floors and ancient mikwes.

Jerusalem, the ancient capital of Israel,
