Arrived quite late in Byron after a long bus journey. We hadn't booked any accommodation so succumbed to the touts at the bus stand and ended up at 'The Arts Factory'! Sounds ponsy and it was! Sort of a new age hippie butlins with free juggling lessons thrown in. We got into the swing of it though and soon found ourselves on a bushtucker walk (minus the witchety grubs thank god). It was an interesting insight into the local flora and fauna and our guide 'cockatoo paul' (!) even showed us which plant we could quite easily bump someone off with! Don't worry I've forgotten which one it was now!

The surf was well and truly up and Jim was in his element...the weather was mainly rain, but with the odd terrential downpour and the occasional flood thrown in, so the water was the best place to be !! I even found watching the surfers in the barrel of the wave thrilling!!!

Surfing Paradise

We decided to do a refresher dive and of course the weather improved vastly on that day! We had a quick dip in the pool to practice then out on the boat to Julian Rocks for a 30-40 min dive. It's a bit like riding a bike really.

The dive was fun and we were lucky enough to see a leopard shark and a huge manta ray type thingyma jig about 2 metres across. The puffer fish were my fave though.

Mozzy bite count up to 43!!!
