Edinburgh Castle, overlooks the capital of Scotland. After spending 6 months working in Edinburgh I thought it was about time I checked out this big medieval jewel which dominates the city centre.

The castle is what you dream of as a kid, and going up on the 70 million year old rock upon which it stands, it rewards you with sweeping views of the city. Directly below the castle you can see the Princes Street Gardens and Princes Street, George Street and Queen Street to name a few.

Aside from the great views, Edinburgh Castle is home to the Crown sceptre and sword of state, pretty fancy! The Great Hall is worth seeing, so too is Mons Meg a six ton cannon!

Historic Scotland run the castle, and while its not cheap to get in (£11) its worth checking it out, as it has such and imposing presence upon this ancient city.
