Island life

Drove down from Boston and onto Cape Cod. Took the road to Woods Hole and the ferry across to Marthas Vineyard. Lots of money here and nice properties. The hostel was fantastic run by a nice bunch of people who were winding down for the end of the season. They were cooking on the evening I arrived, a kind of party, so I and the other guests were invited to join them. More staff than guests and a long table groaning with food. Lots of lively, funny conversation. The next couple of days I explored the island. I took a bike out and visited Chappaquiddick. Did a bit of kayaking there. Beautiful empty sandy beaches. Next day I took a walk and visited some of the islands' lighthouses (it has many). Loved eating breakfast on the porch of the general store - the sort that has everything in it. A magical place and a special time.
