So I left rather late today. Partly because of the wine and partly because, hey, it´s only 4km!

I was aiming to make the midday mass that they hold daily for the Pilgrims. Not a hard task. Went to leave and passed a food van. Got conned into thinking that a cup of still-bubbling-it´s-that-hot ´coffee´ but as I still couldn´t hold it after 5mins, yet alone drink it, I had to ditch it. The directions from the accomodation to Santiago were a little confusion as I followed them back into the Monte de Gozo complex and then back to the same place I´d come from but 20m down the track. I did however get to see Mote de Gozo for all it is. It´s like a fenced of town. It has restaurants, shops, bars, tourist info all open for locals to enjoy. There´s even luxury accommodation available, presumably where the Pope stayed. (He never seemed like a dorm room kinda guy.) I wandered into the city after leaving the complex. Complex being the correct word! Wandered probably not. As Ryan, Jim and anyone else who´s hiked with me will testify, last day always gets me fired up. Especially when we´re REALLY close to the end. A hidden burst of energy ignites inside of me and I walk casually but at least twice as fast as others. Well that started on cue. I saw the Cathedral from a hilltop and I was off. I passed masses of people, including a guy I´d passed the day before who was doing the last 100km (I hope) towing his suitase on wheels. (not recommended but apparently possible)

Made it to the Cathedral and was in awe. Had seen many pictures along the way but it was still exciting. It was like a finish line. And I´d just crossed it. I wanted my picture taken but didn´t know who to trust. I found a policeman. I asked if he could take a picture of me. Apparently he was one of those types who took everythink literally. He took a picture of me. Feet included. If you look in the background you can see part of the door to the Cathedral. But that´s it. Now I didn´t think I came across as THAT vain but I supposed he thought I wanted a picture of me. After all, it was what I asked for. (Made a mental note to ask another person "for a picture of the Cathedral with part of me in the foreground".)

I got my Compostela and my credential was closed. I went and had lunch and thought about Finisterre. It didn´t seem as exciting anymore. I think my mind felt as if it was over and it didn´t want to go any further.

After about 2hrs of umming and ahhing, I decided to go to the airport to see if I could get home early.
