Concert Day
From My Chance to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City, United States on May 24 '07
Today we had our dress rehearsal in Carnegie Hall. The Hall was spectacular! After the dress rehearsal I felt that my experience was complete and that I could go home. But things got better! My Mom, Dad, and Grandmother had a chance to come see my concert! Because I go to school far from home, they never get to see my performances so it was a really touching moment to have my loved ones there to see me at the height of my success. I had made it. I had made it to Carnegie Hall! It was so wonderful. I loved the feeling of connection to everyone on the stage and making an impact on everyone in the audience. I love being pulled into the music making process and taken for a ride into the realm of imagination. It was so powerful! I actually cried at the end of Elsa's Procession (Wagner). It was spectacular!!!!
After the performance we all piled onto the Spirit of New Jersey and had a fantastic cruise in the Harbor.
I feel so empowered by traveling to NYC and doing what I wanted to do and performing with such fantastic musicians.
In the morning I marched myself to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and saw as much as I could before my train left for home. It was so neat to see so much art and history. It was also a neat experience to find myself having the self-confidence and skills to travel on my own and decide to tour the majority of a museum. I didn't even think about being alone until I was eating lunch and realized I didn't have to find a table for more than just me! Haha.
The entire experience was fantastic! I feel so empowered by traveling to NYC and doing what I wanted to do and performing with such fantastic musicians. It was amazing! I will remember it forever :0,
