The True Meaning of Easter.

CLAIRE.

We chose to celebrate the impending Easter Sunday by taking a ride on the Shaoshway(not correct spelling) River in a paddle boat shaped like a chicken. It could have been worse- we could have got the pig boat. There is no Easter in China, largely due to there also being no Jesus and no chocolate that doesn't taste like dusty cocoa that has been left in the car for several weeks.

Easter Sunday was spent exploring a cave 40mins out of Daoxian City. It was nice, expansive, pleasant, but full of rubbish, including an abandoned pool table. Ryan and the teachers decided to look for mushrooms, which they did, crawling around on all fours in the bushes in their suits and high heels. I sat in the car. After 20 mins of searching a passing local informed them that all but two of the mushrooms were indeed poisonous. We were told to take home the two non-fatal fungi but to cook them very well or we would have 'strange dreams'.

On our way home we stopped at a Kung Fu School. We were told this was where kids who are disruptive and have anger problems are sent. To learn Kung Fu for hours each day. No one else saw the strange correlation here so I assume the school will continue to produce problem children with anger issues who are also trained to kill.

We were given Chinese names. Mine is Wei Ling (Wei LING, not to be confused with the art of hapooning whales). It means strong minded girl. Ryan's is Shu Yang. It means tree ocean. He is a child of nature.
