After taking a short hiatus at home this summer, we are now back on the traveling circuit. We plan to travel the New England area of the U.S. and Canada over the month of September. We so enjoyed our road trip out west that we decided to do the same out east before we head to Asia in late October.

Our first stop after leaving Minneapolis was of course, Chicago. Although Scott had visited before, I had never really spent any time here. How I loved it!! We ended up staying in a great location in Lakeview which happens to be within walking distance to Wrigley field. Lucky for us, the Cubs were in town and there were seats available! We rushed to the box office first thing in the morning and got great seats (and for only $24 each – what a bargain for such a classic ballgame at a classic ballpark!)

The quirkiest and most unique draw was the "bean" in Millenium Park which relects the most unusual views of the skyline.

After securing our tickets, we spent our day strolling along Michigan Avenue, Millenium and Grant Park and also included a river/harbor cruise to get a little history of the City and it’s architecture. Very interesting and beautiful city. Before the game, we of course had to go to Gino’s and have a classic deep dish pizza. Yummmm!!! (Yes, again – it’s all about the food!)

The atmosphere at the Cubs game was great! And the Cubs had a great game so it was a lot of fun. We can only hope that we get a great stadium like this in Mpls for our Twins!

Tomorrow, we move on and make our way to Boston!

Tidbit of the day:     Did you know that the first ever fair “midway” was created in Chicago for the Worlds Fair when it was held in there in 1893. This was also where Juicy Fruit and Cracker Jacks were also introduced for the first time among other goodies. So many other historical and architectural facts to go on about, but I’ll stop there!
