We by-passed the city of Adelaide and toured the Barossa valley instead. Amazing how many vineyards such a dry place can support. We stopped to buy a bottle of wine ofcourse and will save it for a special occasion. You could easily spent an entire month wine-tasting in this region.
With the Flinders ranges on our right we drove north through Adelaide's rolling hills up to Port Augusta.
This is the last major city before you hit the desert and yes they profit from this a little. I don't think I have ever before or ever will again, pay $4.70 for a 2l bottle of pepsi!

We filled up with drinking water and got ready to cross-over along the Eyre Highway. Drove by Iron Knob, known as the birthplace of Australia's steel industry. Vegetation was getting sparser and shorter as we headed further west.
We did not see any live kangaroos, but there was evidence of their unsuccesful road crossings.
The setting sun was a beautiful site, hard to capture on a photograph.
