Wednesday 6th June – Athens/Mykonos
Oh oh world ends Jo's up at 5.30am! Wandered to the tube stop to head to the port for a 7.30am departure. Found a good possy on the deck and begun a 5 hour session of 500. On route to Mykonos we stopped at a couple of islands – Syros and one other, both very beautiful and as you would expect a traditional Greek island. On board was a rugby team from Ireland who thought starting to drink beer at 7.30am would be a good idea, not so for those who feel asleep or ill within the first couple of hours! Mel and Jo still winning overall in cards! Arrived at Mykonos expecting to easily find a cab but not so. After much dismay we jumped the taxi queue by standing away from the rank (not to the delight of others!) and headed for our 5 star hotel. A bit of a coldish reception welcoming to the hotel, however the pool area was superb and the rooms were quite nice, but not 5 star with rock hard beds and thin pillows. We soaked up some sun lying by the pool and organised the highlight of our Mykonos trip – hiring quad bikes. We got picked up in a suzuki van and driven to the bike hire place close to the port. Had a couple of self taught lessons then hooned off to one of the many beautiful beaches. Decided to stop and have dinner at our best restaurant for the whole trip! Jo and Leigh had Chicken Sovlakki, greek salad and tzaksiki.. Sorry Mooch we may have found a competitor! The service was outstanding with one single waiter running the entire restaurant very efficiently. Sat outside in the warmth and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. Returned home on the quad bikes and headed indoors.

Thursday 7th June – Mykonos
The adventure began! After a early wake up (8.15am) we took off to Paradise beach heading down some very steep hills on the way! This beach was deserted as most people arrive at 5pm to party as it is a major party beach. Pretty cool beach with shops and a swimming pool close to the bar. Leigh and Jo went for a quick walk then we headed off to Super Paradise beach, where the hills were even stepper! Soaked up the sun for a couple of hours and strategised about how we would get up the hills on our quad bikes. Decided to take a bit of a run up to the first hill but Jo and Leigh got caught by a massive truck and had to slam on the breaks! Ended up pushing the bike up the hill for a few hundred meters until we took it in turns getting to the top! Found a supermarket and got some lunch and decided to head to our favourite beach of the day – Agri! After Leigh and Jas could compose themselves from laughter at the people laying in the nude, they spured each other on to go naked in the sea, including the walk from where we were laying to the sea! Made a few gay men look twice as they eventually dived into the apparently cold water! After half an hour of swimming they couldn't quite work out how they would get back to where Jo and Mel were laying, but eventually ran up looking sheppish! The deal was however, if Leigh and Jas swum nuddy then Jo and Mel had to sunbath topless! Plucked up the courage to go for another dip so Jo, Leigh and Jas wandered down to the sea while onlookers took photos! Leigh and Jas felt absolutely liberated and decided this was the best way to swim and agreed to continue this going forward. After an icecream the next challenge came about – another gigantic steep hill to attempt with the quad bikes. Only got about 50 meters, but then Jo and Leigh sat either side of the bike and managed to get the top, leaning forward and trying to help the bike along. Went back to the hotel freshened up and drove down to Mykonos town before deciding to return the bikes. Got dropped back in Mykonos town and explored. Fantastic town, lovely to see the influence Greece has on Essaouria (Morocco). Bought some nic nacks then jumped the taxi queue yet again and returned to the restaurant from the previous night. The restaurant lived up to its standards and we all ate way to much before walking down to our hotel for some a couple of beers and more 500.
