On Corpus Cristi Day we left Cusco by plane and continued onto Lima, Peru´s capital. Lima is covered in fog which lasts 8 months a year and we were unlucky to experience it.

From the airport we took a taxi verde to Miraflores, the most important suburb of Lima and its social center. We were told not to stay in Lima's center as it is unsafe.

Although Miraflores should be a pleasant area during those 4 months when there is no smog (as it is located along the Pacific Ocean), we did not really enjoy our stay here. The hostels are expensive and so is the food. It is just another European looking place with many shops and restaurants. We visited Parque del Amor (similar looking to Parque Guel in Barcelona but not at all as beautiful). To kill time we watched 2 long movies at Larcomar, Miraflores´modern shopping center and had a coffee at one of the many Starbucks Lima has.

The next day we took a night bus up to Huaraz, 8 hours north via the Pan-American highway and the valleys towards the east.
