In continuance of our impeccable timing during our day in Windsor, we left dinner and walked down the street towards Windsor Castle just in time to get a great view for the town’s Christmas Tree Lighting. A local radio DJ was there entertaining the kids, and then introducing important people from the town for the obligatory not-so-interesting speeches. The best part was when the Band of the Life Guards marched out of the castle to play Christmas songs while the choir from St. George’s Chapel (which is part of the castle) sang. When the choir finished and left, song sheets were passed around for a group sing-a-long. FYI, the Life Guards are the mounted (horse riding) part of the British Army who serve as bodyguards to the Queen.

When it was dark enough, the Christmas tree that the Queen had donated to the town was lit in blue lights (very popular Christmas color here). Not long after that the Queen herself flipped the switch to illuminate Windsor Castle’s Round Tower. It was quite a site, and a great way to end our day in Windsor.
