Washing clothes in the river

Oh my God!  When the book says one of the highlights of Cuenca is watching the local women (I'm surprised they don't flock from miles around) washing clothes in the river and drying them on the banks, they're not kidding.  The other highlight is 'nice, Colonial era architecture'.  Like I haven't seen enough of that lately!  Didn't bother watching the local women washing their clothes in the river, seen it before in Kenya and the phrase 'watching paint dry' is appropriate.

So, spent 1 night and about 1 and a half days in Cuenca before getting the hell out of there.  Managed to have a rubbish cup of coffee in El Cafecito before I left (I complained and didn't pay.  That's the good thing with learning Spanish, giving people the abuse they sometimes deserve!)

Why would you complain in cafecito. First of all its the most touristic place that you could go to Eat/drink.... It was your own choice to go there. 2nd of all the people in cafecito speak quite good english since they have a high influx of gringos going through.... You would have been better off exploring other things.

"Why would you complain in cafecito." - First up, where's the question mark? Second, I can complain if I want to, especially if they serve a really bad cup of coffee. Which they did. "First of all its the most touristic place that you could go to Eat/drink.... It was your own choice to go there." - Almost true. It's the most backpacker-type place to go. It was my choice to go there, though. The idea behind me going there was that being touristy usually means you get more than just the cup of hot milk and some instant coffee powder you get everywhere else. Although in this case, I would have been better of with that (and actually was when I went somewhere else). "2nd of all the people in cafecito speak quite good english since they have a high influx of gringos going through...." - They might well speak English but that doesn't mean I have to. "You would have been better off exploring other things." - I was. It turns out that place was the rest of South America. Anyway, this is my blog and I can do and write what I want to without silly comments being posted on it.
