The high life

Bali was set aside for our 'real' honeymoon.  An entire week in a five star resort without the worries of backpacking, and it was true bliss.  Our room was actually a suite with a balcony, a huge lounge, bedroom, and a bathroom with the biggest bath ever.

Bali is a beautiful place, albeit a little more touristy than we're acustomed to. On the first day we were stupid enough to be roped in to a timeshare lecture on the promise of a free lunch.  Lunch was good, but the lecture was boring as hell.  On a positive note we did get a free parasail each and the resort where the lecture was held was actually pretty stunning. We returned the following day to make full use of their facilities and private beach.

We spent one day on a private tour which took us to the north of the island stopping at temples along the way, some of which were incredibly impressive (some were just plain boring).  We saw prayers being performed and people washing away their sins under an assortment of fountains, each signifying a different sin, and finally we were taken to Talan Lot for a stunning sunset alongside a temple in the sea.  All-in-all a fantastic day.

The next few days were a blur of relaxation and frisbee in the pool.  Yaz celebrated her birthday out there and I booked a table at one of the four restaurants of the Intercontinental Resort across the road from ours.  This resort is possibly the best I've ever seen in my life. In fact, even if I tried to imagine one more impressive, I wouldn't be able to.  We sat in one of the bars for a while listening to the live music playing, enjoying the sea breeze from the beach behind the band, and then moved to a table for a ridiculously tasty (and somewhat expensive) meal.
