Once we agreed to abandon our backpacking plans, we went for the nearest motel in the area. Our expectations set for a trucker stop, we weren't disappointed when we pulled into Cedar City with immediate views of Walmart, various motel chains, and a very dodgy looking Grandee's icecream parlor. We were quite pleased to find that our chosen motel was within walking distance of a diner that was showing the Itay v Germany game, and movie theatre where we caught a matinee of The Devil Wears Prada. Roughing in it true style...

Cedar City has a lighthouse (see pic). God only knows and he's around these Mormon parts for sure. "Hampton Inn" hotel was exactly what i needed.... TV alongwith our portable "beer keg" (see pic - thanks Irish and GT - it's had plenty of beer and no bear action so far). Not much to say about this tiny place but when we got out of the cinema i had a weird "where are we again?" feeling. i think thats what happens when we hit as many places as we have over the last couple of weeks. Best thing about Cedar City is their free newspaper. Creepy little story about a 2 year old who is "Little Mr Hawaiian Tropic Swimwear King." The kid doesn't even have a decent suntan (see the photo.) Next up.... Salt Lake City. dx
