Me amo Buenos Aires
From Yo estoy en Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Jan 18 '07
If I ever stated that I was afraid to see a city by myself then I must have been kidding myself. Being able to travel, see sights, and meet new people is a complete blast! Although there are parts of the day that I would love to talk without translating everything. However; the charm of Buenos Aires is creeping under my skin more and more.
Yesterday I was lucky to go and see my school in the Galerias Pacifico and meet some staff. It was so great to meet them and the staff is fantastic. I actually, GIRLS NOT HAVE A HEART ATTACH, talked with them for about 30 minutes in Spanish and understood what they were saying, asked questions, and responded! SUCCESS! I also walked around San Telmo and checked out my neighborhood and house. I must say I have the cutest house on the block. Its so nice to be able to be in a city and not have to rush through all the musuems and sites. I can just walk around and look in stores, talk to strangers, test out different foods! I must say this is the way to travel.
Today I was going to go to Tiegre but it was supposed to rain so I stayed in the city and checked out a different part of town. I went to a nontourist area. The purpose for this adventure was to go to a must see museum called mueso Argentino de ciencias naturales. However when I arrived at 10 I found out by the guard that it does not open until 14:00. So I went to the Parque Centenario that the muesum was in. This park was beautiful, complete with fountains, families, animals, and tons of dogs walkers=barking dogs! I am not even joking you this man had 20 dogs tied to him. I thought to myself it would be really funny to get two people and both fun seperate ways with a nice piece of steak! haha That is why traveling with another person is fun! It was not only men who risked their lives with these beasts women; even older women, where professional dog walkers. I took a picture so when I get to my house of figure out how to work pictures then I will post some for everyone to understand the amount of dogs.
The muesum was good, its funny to look at dead animals that are in cases from otehr countries; maybe I just have seen a good job, thanks to uncle Jay, of saving an animal for display but some of these animals looked like the dogs were let loose and ate off the side of the turtles face. One really cool part in the musuem was the bug exibit. After the muesum I went of the subte and went to the Cemetrio de la Chacarita where the famous Carlos Gardel, the man who made tango music famous, lies in a tomb. I can not discribe in words that colors of the trees that are shading all of the graves. There are tropical flowers in full bloom,so if you think of Fiji or other tropical island you can imagine this place. I walked around this cemetrio for about 2 hours. As I was leaving a little old lady came up to me and asked me if I know whos grave i was standing in front of. Of course I didnt and she started tearing up,it was a man who helped with build some of the strongest ¨revolutions¨. We talked for about 15 minutes and as she started to tear up again and kissed her on the cheek ( the Argentinan way) and we walked to my subway stop. She was so kind and informed me that I was stupid for carrying around a backpack. So I guess Gloria, the little lady is right and I am a tourist if I have on any kind of backpack no matter if it has hearts on it or not.
For now I am off to take a shower and put on aloe because while laying in the park reading I obtained a serious burn...not as bad as Shelby in Mexico but not one that feels nice.
Love you all, chua
