I love this place !

Drive to Oamaru this morning and after leaving a cold, windy, wet Lake Tekapo, it is bright sunshine here. We stop on the way at Timaru and enjoy a great cake and tea in a little bakery before carrying on to lunch at Oamaru harbour. We visit the Blue Penguin colony but the penguins are at sea, so we do a walk around the harbour and check in to the very nice caravan park to do some laundry. Evening we visit Fat Sally's (local pub) for an amazingly large crispy chicken salad (we are trying to be healthy). I love Oamaru - it has wonderful buildings, an strange penguin statue and nice shops, plus it is quiet and pleasant.
