Me and Bex arrived in San Jose the capital nice and early and headed straight out to the Pacific Coast to Manual Antonio, a chilled out surfer town, which also has a National Park.  I got attacked by a Monkey in the park as he saw the bananas I was carrying (A bad idea I now know, but was hungry at the time), fortunately both me and the Monkey survived but I am never turning my back on one again....(Becky here - I would just like to add that John being the brave man that he is he tried to give me the bananas as the monkey started to attack him!!)

After Manuel Antonio we went back to San Jose to meet Sarah who was flying out to join us for 10 days. We then all headed to Monteverde and La Fortuna region.  This is the activities and treking mecca of Costa Rica and we all went Zip Lining through the jungles which was really good fun, with the longest Zip Line being over 750m long and the highest being over 200m off the floor!!!  I also went canyoneering which is basically following a stream down a mountain side, abseiling down a few waterfalls (Over 70meters!!), and clambering down a few of the smaller ones, Becky and Sarah went for some beauty treatment during this as did not fancy it much. We then all went on a Volcano trek where we got to see Volcano Arenal (Top 5 most active Volcanoes in the World) erupting a few times which was really amazing...
