Packing - done. Late night trip to Long's Drugstore for mini shaving cream - done. First blog entry - working on it. The final hours are counting down before we board American flight 129 from San Jose to Tokyo, and let me tell you I AM AMPED! I am so amped, in fact, that I am ready to admit something to the world: I am an airplane dork. There, I said it. To prepare for this trip I consulted airliners.net for pictures, flyertalk.com for advice on carriers, seatguru.com for choice seats, and even airlinemeals.net for...for...I just like to look at pictures of airplane food, ok?

Since Lil's printer doesn't work, I wrote down our 1 hotel reservation in my handy journal with the word "journal" IMPRINTED INTO THE COVER (see picture). It has a little string coming off the back, which I'm guessing is for me to keep my place while I'm writing. But what if it's for the person who steals my bag to keep their place while they're reading? As a nod to this confusing string, I'm going to make my first journal entry a picture of the Vietnamese Prime Minister riding an air-shrew through the St. Louis Arch (see picture).
