In search of glaciers and pointy mountains our trip took us South, and to El Calafate as our first port of call....
From here, we spent a day at the Puerto Moreno Glacier. Absolutely amazing site. We took a boat ride along the Noth face of the glacier. Unfortunately, while on the boat, only small lumps of ice fell off the Glacier - no great show....yet. Pretty amazing though. Floating along next to a kilometer of towering ice. Amazing colours, whites mixed with turquoise and blue where the sunlight hits the crevices.

Following the boat trip we hiked along the edge of the glacier, up to the balconies where you can view the glacier up close. On the way up we saw a few pretty big lumps of ice falling off. Tremendous creaks and groans followed by a large crash as a big lump of ice falls into the lake. This was only the start...
From the balconies the views were fantastic. We were fortunate enough to have clear blue skies which possibly helped warm the glacier, causing it to split. While absorbing the views, we noticed that a large tower looked like it was hanging on to the glacier for dear life - it had to fall - as small lumps of ice kept falling from it more and more frequently. It was now a waiting game. After about twenty minutes there was an almighty crash and the whole tower crashed into the lake. This was followed shortly after by another big tower colapsing.
