As it turns out, it's not the easiest getting around the US by bus  - they don't appear to like the idea of public transport. The bus station in Miami was literally a wooden shack in the down town area which immediately put the shits up me as every gnarly looking dude came out of the wood work to catch a lift to hicksville. Got dumped an hour down the road in Homestead and picked up by a flighty hippy type and taken to the hostel - which was ace by the way (see website www.evergladeshostel.com). Lack of car meant I was a bit stuck, but managed to cadge a lift to the local alligator farm to watch a bit of alligator wrangling and got a ride on an airboat. The highlight of the experience was watching the feeding show, mid way of which a simpleton asked whether the alligator that had shuffled up next to him was part of the act. It wasn't. It had got in from outside the park and joined the rest of us watching the show from the stands. Nothing like a toothy five foot handbag to make an entire stands worth punters zip up terraced seating at a rate of knots. They punted it inside the compound and got a free great bug lizard for their troubles. Everybody wins.

Yeah mate, get closer to the free-roaming alligator, brilliant idea. Notice how I'm several feet above the pillock up front standing on the seats. It's my secret tchnique to not losing a foot.

Found myself having a thai meal with the owner, a couple from Lesbania (allegedly) and a militant pensioner desperately trying to get a bit of action by spouting radically femenist views (which the lesbanians seemed to like the idea of - alas, barking up the wrong homo's there old timer). I ventured, that in a world without men, who would support the porn industry? Lead ballon.

Ah well, the owners elderly mother thought it was funny.
