After 2 hours of napping, we woke at the Flying J. Alisa and I headed in for snacks and caffeine. Banana and Beef Jerky, wash it down with a Diet Pepsi.

We head off to the KOA we saw. We get there at 6:30 the office opens at 8. "This place is kind of small." I say to my self. Good thing I said it to my self no one else was awake. There was another campground that sounded nice about 25 miles closer to DC.

I just want a few samples, just a few hundreds.

I drove to the Cherry Hill Park. They were open, had a spot and were cheaper than the KOA. They have a city bus stop that can take you to the DC Metro. Cool.

We setup and then take a nap. About 1 we get metro tickets. I tell the kids we are heading to the mall. "The kind of mall you can buy a politician." I said, but they didn't get the joke.

The kids were excited to ride the subway. We got to DC, and walked. We walked to the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial,  the FDR Memorial, and finally to the Jefferson Memorial.

Since we are in a politically charged city, I can't help my self. ( Jeff steps up on his soapbox )

Over at the way too huge FDR Memorial ( with the size of it one could conclude he was the most important president ever ) there was a saying he uttered. "Freedom from want. Freedom from fear."

On the way from FDR to Jefferson, there was a almost forgotten memorial, there were no crowds there, the landscaping needed some repair. It was George Mason. He basically said we have the right to own property and the right to pursue happiness.

It hit me how far we have fallen.

I then get hit by a tomato. The crowd then pushes me off the soapbox to the ground, smashes the box, burns the pieces and makes me eat the ashes. The whole time chanting, "This is supposed to be funny. We want funny! We want funny!"

Ok, we walk back to the metro. Alisa won't let me knock on the door of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

"I just want a few samples, just a few hundreds. I want to see if I can use them" I said.

She replies, "They might give you some but the backs will be blank"

We get back to the metro station. It seems one of the cards isn't working. I can't get out! The machine on this side of the gate doesn't take debt cards, or one sided $100's.

The station manager let's me out. The kids stop crying. We get back to camp.

More capital capers tomorrow.
